Zulfahmi raring to go in Czech Republic’s Brno Circuit

Published on August 14th, 2010

Malaysian 12cc MotoGP rider Mohd Zulfahmi Khairuddin will be back in action at the Czech Republic’s MotoGP this weekend, after enjoying a three-week mid season break at home. The 18-year old rider is raring to go back into battle after collecting two points in the world motorcycle championship, the first at Spain’s Catalunya circuit and the second at Germany’s Sachsenring circuit.

“I think my trip back home to Malaysia, and having the chance to spend some time with my family and friends may have given me an even stronger determination to succeed,” he said.

“As always, I keep myself focused on my preparations for the race by increasing my fitness level. I will also be watching videos of the race held at the circuit last year in order to learn more about the circuit.”

The Czech Republic’s Brno circuit will be the tenth race in the MotoGP calendar for 2010.

“After going through eight races, I know that I am more in tune with the bike’s engine and I am more familiar with its handling. I know that my performance has been improving with every race. I am very happy with the team. The team mechanics have always given their best in preparing the bike, and there is no problem with the bike’s calibrations.”

“I think the most important part is my performance when I am at the track. I would always spend as much time as possible on the track over the race weekends. I’d try to do as many laps as I can to familiarise myself with the track as fast as possible, so that I would be better prepared for the race,” said Zulfahmi.

He added that the Brno track is not as difficult as the one in Jerez and Sachsenring.

“The track is pretty wide and I am confident that I will be able to secure myself a good position in this race. My target is to finish the race, and I hope I’d be able to finish it in the top 20 position.”

Sepang International Circuit chief executive officer, Razlan Razali commented, “we are confident that Fahmi will always do his best. Our expectation remains the same, for him to adapt to the circuit and improve on his times. We ask for no more. However, there may be some added pressure because he has scored two points and people at home expect him secure more from this race onwards. We have to remind him that it is not necessary and just enjoy the weekend.”
