ZTH’s TimeToAttack: Concluded

Published on December 15th, 2010

The finale of ZTH’s TimeToAttack was held at the renowned Sepang International Circuit on Dec 12 2011. It was a battle among the best of the best as they battle it out to be in the TTA’s hall of Fame, boasting the fastest lap time with their chosen modded rides.

The pits was bustling with activities as the drivers and their crews along with fans and motorsport enthusiasts stepped up their game for the finale of ZTH’s TTA. There were some drivers who took part in the warming up session earlier that day to familiarise themselves even better with the scorching tarmac of Sepang to earn their place in the Hall of Fame.

It was more or less the same set of discipline, except for the scrutineering session, which is compulsory, to ensure each modded rides met the requirement of their class.

Despite the scorching heat that we felt, and the sweat we were churning out were worst than a pig lost in the desert, it was perfect for the drivers as the four fastest times of the day were pretty much quicker than the previous TTA. Farriz Fauzy managed to claim the bragging rights at the top spot at 2:19.785, leaving others gawking at the time.

Ronnie Chen in his Ascendant Motorsports Porsche 997 Turbo came second at 2:25:796 in the Time Attack Machines class, followed by Ling Ken Ji at 2:26:331 in his Silvia S15. Even though his modded ride was running on semis, he was classified under the Time Attack Machines class due to the nature of his ride.

Those present at the pits witnessed one of the rides caught fire, but with quick response from the marshals, the fire was extinguished quick enough but not without minor injury to the owner’s pocket. The owner should give thanks to the legendary marshals of Sepang.

Apart of the usual suspects with their unusually modded rides rarely seen on the streets, a number of Megane RS250 Cups dived in and joined the fun as well, making it’s all worth while, considering the Megane RS250 Cup was meant for time attack. Former A1GP Denis Lian was also present in one of the RS250, getting his hands dirty at the circuit.
