Volvo C70 spends a night with the S60 Concept

Published on September 9th, 2009

No documents bearing the official stamp of the Swedish marquee were tagged with these set of pictures but we don’t need a doctorate in genetics to see that the facelifted Volvo C70 has been clocking in some overtime to get cozy with the S60 Concept at the office.

Set for a Frankfurt debut in a week’s time, the convertible hardtop has flipped through Charles Darwin’s ‘The Theory of Evolution’ and purged the boxy lines and inherited the S60 Concept’s voluptuous genes.

The swept-back headlights and larger grille are some of the more positive and visible traits that formed the reskinned C70’s DNA. Moving on to the rear, redesigned tail lights now sport LED lines while a reshaped bumper and larger ‘Volvo’ wordings on the trunk keep the changes simple.

Drop the top and step inside, you might be hard pressed to spot any touch-ups to the interior. The standard issue Volvo interior that you’ll be able to find in any of their models now finds a home in the C70 as well.

Not that anything bar the price would have been hurt if they borrowed some of the S60 Concept’s futuristic internal lines and we think that having done a proper job on the outside, potential customers wouldn’t mind splashing out the extra dosh for an exciting inside.

As you may have noticed, the mandatory engine bay shots are MIA and so maybe the Swedes still have a couple of aces up their sleeves to throw on the table come Frankfurt on 15 Spetember.
