Volvo C30 gets in on the office romp with S60 Concept

The Volvo C30 was truly a dash of jalapeno sauce in Volvo’s salad model offerings. Picking up the right cards from the response to the C30, the designers at Gothenburg have learned the trick of curving their arms while drawing to make their tanks more voluptuous and less straight-edged.

Starting with the XC60 and sweeping on to the face lifted C70, the C30 is next in line to receive the curvy treatment. As expected, a large chunk of the changes mirror the nip and tucks that the C70 received recently, escalating rumours that the C30 did more than just run through some documents with the S60 Concept at the office.

The sleek yet curvy head is a handsome concoction of trademark Volvo sharp angles but with streamlined curves that join seamlessly to produce a stretched, almost cosmetic surgery-esque, facelift look. Aiding in the stretched effect would be the headlamps that reach out far into the fender.

Spin it around 180 degrees and the only noticeable changes to the unique rear would be larger brand wordings on the glass hatchback. This treatment was injected to the front grille as well, making the Volvo badge more prominent.

Accompanying the facelift is a bevy of new color options that include an Espresso/Blond interior combo. The C30 was always meant to have a sporty streak to it and befittingly, an extra Sports package that consists of a lowered ride height by 10mm, stiffer bushings, dampers and stabilizer bars as well as a quicker steering ratio will be available.

Slated for a Frankfurt debut, expect the sexier C30 to hit local shores sometime later this year.
