This month we were shocked by the news report of a freak accident that occured at the KB Mall in Kota Bharu, Kelantan where a turbo-charged Ford Laser plunged down two storeys and caused the death of two. My condolences to the family. It’s been hyped by the media that the accident was the result of modification done to the vehicle. Just my two cents though… but have they ever consider the stupidity of the driver instead of the modification?

I have had enough of this blaming game by the media as if modders are the cause of all road accidents in the country. And thanks to film makers back home who successfully characterized modders as the part of the social ills… drug dealers and addicts, illegal racers and all. Modders are more than all that and most important of all, I have yet met a modder who is also a drug dealer as portrayed in various local-made movies. So please people… leave us modders the heck alone!

Now that I got that out of my system… let’s get back to the topic. In the spirit of Christmas a few days away, UDMowners organized a charity drive as part of their own effort of community service to bring happiness to the kids at the Ozanam House. Earlier today, at 10.00am, UDMowners met up at Hassan’s in SS15 for breakfast before driving off an hour later to Ozanam House situated in Old Town Petaling Jaya.

The weather was all blue skies but not without the infamous scorching hot sun getting in the way and rendered us all sweating like hell. To top it all up, the Federal Highway was congested as usual. Nothing new to that I suppose. After about 40 minutes of sauna in Jeo’s faithful Kelisa, tagging along with the all-shiny UDMowners’ rides, we arrived at the Ozanam House.

Ozanam House consists of two buildings, one for the boys and another for the girls. First stop was at the boys’ where UDMowners had a friendly futsal before presenting the boys with the ball and a whole lotta other gifts. Obviously the UDMowners got a beating of their lives hence the game was cut short to save any dignity left. Apart from that each of the boys received their own personalized christmas gifts from the UDMowners. Since UDMowners play futsal every Tuesday, the boys were invited to join ‘em and coach ‘em starting next week!

As for the girls, the had fun with the UDMowners playing a number of fun and games before receiving their christmas gifts. Even though it was just a short visit, the girls and boys of Ozanam House had fun with the UDMowners.  Kudos to UDMowners for being thoughtful and brought some fun and galore at the Ozanam House.
