“Kereta kalau bawak takpayah laju-laju, tapi kene maintain cepat. Laju tak cepat tak gune, buat accident je.” – Oreedo
(“There’s no need to drive fast, as the risks for accidents are higher. Drive quickly instead.” – Oreedo)
True to his words, Oreedo was one of the lead cars that took us Touge-ing last Sunday. A few days before that, I asked Oreedo whether there was a Touge on the weekend, and he said he’ll get back to me a.s.a.p.
He got back to me on Friday saying that the Touge session is confirmed on July 11th, Sunday. Come Sunday, we gathered at the designated Kedai Kopi to wait for everyone. After a few cursings, reminiscing and outright insults, we gathered our things, checked our tyre pressure and started the slow warming-up drive towards our first checkpoint.

After everyone has arrived, we turned off the hazard lights and started the journey. Ariel and Oreedo started to pick up speed after the first corner and off we went.

We went through Gombak, heading towards Genting Sempah. On the way there, we stopped at the first Touge checkpoint (under a bridge) for a few minutes before entering the highway through Genting Sempah to head towards Bukit Tinggi.
We took a short break at the new shop area in Bukit Tinggi before coming back down as our stomachs were vibrating with heavy metal music due to hunger.

The driving down was much faster, with a few close calls, probably because of the delicious Yong Tau Foo that was waiting for us. One car actually went off the road and managed to stop right before going off-roading on a 90-degrees hill.

The writer had some interesting lessons learned in Taking Corners 101 and The Fundamentals of Not Stepping On The Brake Pedal While Taking Corners.
