After a long awaited time, Audi has launched in our shores the new 2nd Generation Audi Q7. The last generation marked a change of time for Audi, as it was the first move into the SUV market territory. The brand’s first attempt into the SUV game over 10 years ago quickly became a game changer, and it took a decade for Ingolstadt’s to change it’s ever popular SUV vehicle.
The all-new Q7 4M (2nd generation) is a timely refresh for an ageing design that has been around since 2005. Ahead of it’s time like its predecessor, This new model has brought about improvements not only in terms of design, but also performance and technology to the global market.
The single variant on offer by Audi Malaysia starting today is the Q7 in 3.0 TFSI guise with maximum output of 333HP and 440Nm of torque which is priced right smack in the middle of the premium luxury SUV segment here in Malaysia. Priced here starting at RM589,900 in CBU form, the four-ringed SUV is set to be an absolute competitor in Malaysia’s hot market.
The introduction of the all-new Q7 brought about a host of changes visually which include the all-familiar Audi Singleframe grille which adorns the front of the car. A familiar touch that will be highly recognisable in a couple years time as it is the new Audi design language.
Levelling the competitive playing field, Audi has equipped the new Q7 with LED light technology, fitting the brand’s signature LED Daytime Running Lights along with rears to match. True to it’s form, the Q7 also comes with the adaptive air-suspension on all 4 corners which can be driver-adjusted via the Audi drive select. The variation in height can only be accessed in All-road mode – which raises the ride height by 25mm and the Lift/Offroad mode which raises the ride height to 60mm.
The Q7 also comes with a start/stop system with energy recovery, tyre pressure loss indicator, Hill Descent Control, Electronic Stabilisation Control with Traction Control, Electronic Brake Force Distribution with ABS, Electronic Differential Lock and Audi’s renown Quattro all-wheel drive system.
Audi Malaysia has also made huge leaps in terms of technology in the interior with the new Q7 featuring Audi’s Virtual Cockpit that can be seen on the newly launched Audi TT here. This also entails an upgrade of the Infotainment System which is equipped with the MMI Navigation plus with MMI Touch that also has a Bluetooth Interface.
The sound are channeled through a Bose 3D Sound System with Audi’s Music Interface which includes a 15-channel amplifier with 19 loudspeakers all-around the cabin that generates a total output of 558 watts. 4-zone automatic air-conditioning, electrically adjustable steering wheel and front seats with memory function, 8 airbags, manual sun blinds, Ambient Lighting Pack, power-operated tailgate, Comfort Key and cruise control to satisfy the most demanding of driver and passengers.
The all-new Audi Q7 is offered in ten color choices which are Carrara White, Glacier White, Floret Silver, Carat Beige, Argus Brown, Ink Blue, Graphite Grey, Night Black, Orca Black and a special Daytona Gray with pearl effect.
