The new Maserati Ghibli arrives in Malaysia!

Published on May 17th, 2014

Maserati has been playing the style and performance game long enough, catering for the niche market who seeks after more than just luxury, but also heritage and Italian design.

Last year however, Maserati announced that they will be launching an all-new, mass produced car that will be entering the E-segment market alongside their German rivals; Mercedes, BMW and Audi. Well, most would have probably grin in utter confusion to the news but here it is… the all-new Maserati Ghibli.

NAZA Italia – the official distributor of Maserati cars in Malaysia has launched the new Ghibli and Ghibli S to our shores with an absolutely competitive price; starting from RM 538,888 for the base model here.

Maserati enters the Ghibli in the E-segment market as a sports executive sedan, with a touch of Italian flare that its rivals can’t cash.

“Today is a very important day for us since it marks the beginning of a new page of our history. The Ghibli demonstrates all those values you expect from a Maserati in the high-end of the full size sedan segment: class-leading Italian design and a unique Maserati driving experience – combined with affordability and usability,” said Datuk Wira Haji SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, Joint Group Executive Chairman of NAZA Group of Companies.

Maser’s new Ghibli will sit in the range below it’s bigger brother, the Quattroporte, packing a similar power unit – a new generation 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine that is mated to the awe-some ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox.

This will catapult the Ghibli from naught-to-sixty in just 5.6 seconds with 330bhp on taps and just 5 seconds flat for the more powerful, Ghibli S that has 410bhp.

At the launch, Maserati was proud to announce that their car will not have a capped top speed limiter of 155mph which means the Ghibli and Ghibli S will do 263km/h and 285km/h respectively.

Maserati mentioned that both models that will offered here in Malaysia are rear-wheel drive and comes with Limited Slip Differential as standard .

At the same time, we were in informed and assured that the Malaysian market will not be seeing the Ghibli Diesel (a first for Maserati) and the AWD Ghibli S Q4.

Whilst the exterior seems rather questionable and unconventional of Maserati, the interior is business as usual.

The typical Italian touch of leather and luxury is retained in Ghibli, and customers will be able to enjoy a wide range of customisation for their own set of exclusivity; including optional extras like the 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins high end audio system and WLAN based WiFi.
