The BMW 4 Series gets practical with the All-new Gran Coupé

Published on June 18th, 2014

Yesterday – BMW Group Malaysia introduced to the Malaysian market their latest addition to their product line, the all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé.

This model marks BMW’s first-ever compact exective sedan coupé to go head-to-head with its rival from Ingolstadt, the Audi A5 Sportback. Offering the perfect balance of functionality and outstanding coupé sophistication, the 4 Series GC lands in Malaysia in absolutely awe and style.

BMW is offering the Malaysian market with two variants of the 4 Series Gran Coupé, both carrying the 428i badge which specs a 2.0-litre in-line, TwinPower Turbo 4 cylinder heart that delivers a rated output of 245bhp and 350nm of twist. This relentless performance will catapult the Beemer from 0-100 in just 6.1 seconds courtesy of their signature fast shifting ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox. The top speed of the 428i GC is electronically limited to 250km/h.

Making its debut for the first time is also a new feature which provides anticipatory gearshift strategy for sport and comfort mode, that collaborates the gearbox and the navigation system to exchange datas to offer the most efficient and sporty response, matching with the road layout from the navigation data.

In Sport Mode, the transmission control unit will assist the driver with a sporty response and in Comfort Mode, the programme will arrange for fewer gearshifts to offer an optimum efficiency.

Presenting the all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé at the launch event last night was Dr. Gerhard Pils, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia who noted – “The all-new BMW 428i Gran Coupé Sport embodies sporty elegance and superior dynamic sophistication in the midsize segment.

This BMW is for the customer who wants to stand out and be taken notice of in the segment as the car offers the best exterior and interior design cues, the best in class in terms of efficiency and the best in terms of sportiness.”

The Gran Coupé follows BMW’s design philosophy from the 6 Series Gran Coupé , with its low-slung, elongated roofline like a sports coupe should, but at the same time to offer maximum practicality potential for the everyday user. In addition to improved access and seating comfort for occupants, the cars wide-opening tailgate and large luggage capacity contributes to the emotional appeal and everyday functionality that BMW is chasing after with the four-door coupé design.

The M Sport package offers a sportier styling courtesy of an all-round bodykit for the 428i Gran Coupé, and at the same time, M-sport wheels too to match. This variant also comes with an exclusive colour dubbed as Carbon Black and Estoril Blue alongside 5 other colours that can be chosen from.

The 428i Gran Coupé is now available on sale from RM389,800.00 and 418,800.00 for the M Sport variant (on the road, without insurance, with BMW Service + Repair). For more information, visit their website at or take a drive to their nearest dealers for a test drive.
