After 17 years of success, Malaysia finally received the inaugural rebirth of the ‘TT’ badge from Audi. Making it’s mark today as an all-new iteration, the third generation Audi TT is distinctive and unmistakably Audi, with a daring mission to set the benchmark in the market for what constitutes a sports car.
First introduced in 1995 as a concept car during the Frankfurt Motor Show, the TT concept captured the imagination of attendees with its bold silhouette, geometric features and a formally coherent language. Because of the overwhelmingly positive feedback Audi received at that time, that concept car was made a reality in 1998 with the first-generation TT coupe.
“Over the past twenty years, the Audi TT has consistently been the epitome of an authentic design icon, simply because we at Audi dared to push the boundaries of what truly defined a sports car. The third-generation TT you see today is a result of our philosophy of putting no limits in engineering a performance-oriented, emotionally sculpted, technological tour-de-force that embodies everything that we at Audi stand for,” said Immo Buschmann, Managing Director of Audi Malaysia.
Honed for an exhilarating and engaging drive, the new Audi TT will arrive in Malaysia with the latest 2.0 TFSI 4-cylinder in-line petrol engine, generating 230hp and 370 Nm from 1,600 to 4,300 rpm. Combined with a 6-speed S tronic transmission, this sporty coupe is able to make the century sprint in a sprightly 5.9 seconds and on up to an electronically-governed top speed of 250 km/h. Despite its exhilarating performance, the Audi TT remains highly fuel efficient, with a combined cycle of 6.3 litres/100km.
Like all current Audi models, the new TT also comes equipped with a smorgasbord of electronic features to ensure an efficient and safe driving experience, including a start/stop system with energy recuperation, Electronic Stabilisation Control (ESC), Traction Control (ASR), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL), parking aid plus with selective display and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).
One particular highlight is the progressive steering, which is an electromechanically driven system that adapts its assistance based on the speed of the car so that it can be steered precisely with minimal adjustment of the steering wheel whether in downtown traffic or winding country roads. The Audi drive select system also comes standard on the new Audi TT, allowing drivers to control the engine characteristics and the steering assistance to suit their specific styles, choosing between comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency and individual modes.
However – the biggest change with the all-new iteration is on the inside where the whole layout has been revamped and redesigned from ground up to be extensively driver-centric. Focused entirely around the driver, the virtual cockpit is a revolutionary new approach for driver orientation, being the first time that this fully digital instrument cluster is being made available in a production car.
Encompassing a 12.3” high-resolution LCD display located just behind the new flat-bottomed multi-function steering wheel, the Audi virtual cockpit is a fully customizable interface that sets new standards in driver engagement with its dynamic animations and precise graphics. Drivers can choose between two display modes; Classic and Progressive. In the classic view, the speedometer and rev counter are in the foreground; in “Progressive” mode the virtual instruments are smaller, with the space that becomes free as a result providing ample room for other MMI radio functions, such as the infotainment and telephone features.
“Truly, the Audi TT coupe is one of the most recognisable models in our range of impeccable vehicles and it is my belief that much like it has been through history, the latest Audi TT will become the face of and play an integral role in making Audi the number 1 premium brand in this market,” added Mr. Buschmann.
The all-new Audi TT coupe is offered in a total of ten colour choices: Ibis White, Brilliant Black, Glacier White, Scuba Blue, Tango Red, Floret Silver, Monsoon Grey, Nano Grey, Mythos Black and a special Daytona Grey with pearl effect. Available for booking at all authorised Audi dealerships from 8 May onwards, the new Audi TT coupe is priced at RM 284,900. For more information, please visit www.audi.com.my today.
