Supercars Touge session with JPM Motorsport

Published on September 11th, 2010

It is almost time to polish that ridiculously expensive sportscar, slap a set of brand new semi-slick tyres and service ’em V8s as the JPM Berjaya Hills Time Challenge is back for another round of tarmac scorching session in Berjaya Hills (or Bukit Tinggi, as it was known formerly) late next month.

They are saying that the event will gather the biggest number of Super/Performance cars for an automotive hill event.

The event is separated into four different categories; Uphill, Downhill, Combines Routes and Time Attack. Spectators are more than welcomed to spectate as there will be no entry charge. Participants will of course have to pay a fee of RM500 for classic cars and RM800 for modern cars, which will include an invite to the Gala Dinner where results will be announced.

In 2009, the event managed to capture the interest of exotic car owners, such as Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches, Aston Martins, Lotus, Skyline R35, and many more. The sight alone would be spectacular, as most of us can only drool towards ’em V8s. This time around, the event will be held in conjunction with the Breast Cancer Awareness month of October.

Royal Selangor, the world’s largest pewter maker, will also be contributing to the good cause to promote Breast Cancer Awareness by arranging a Jelly Making Workshop at the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre’s Café. Inspired by mountains, British designer Nick Munro designed the conical shaped jelly mould for Royal Selangor as he believes that mountains challenge humans to be brave – an inspiration which perfectly fits the theme of the entire Hill Climb event itself.

The fun and interactive workshop is open to anyone, including families, organizations or clubs.  At a reasonable price of RM200, all participants will be able to learn how to make jelly with the pewter mould, enjoy a scrumptious afternoon tea and take home a pewter jelly mould.   RM70 from the participation fee will be donated to the Breast Cancer Welfare Foundation. Royal Selangor is also the trophy sponsor for the JPM Berjaya Hills Time Challenge 2010.

Colmar Tropicale, Berjaya Hills, play venue sponsors to the event. The hill itself should be very familiar to local Touge drivers and Trafficmagonline have been covering the routes. Top One Oil, Ishin Japanese Dining and BMW Pendragon Auto also joined the list of sponsors supporting the JPM Berjaya Hills Time Challenge 2010, which has all the makings of being yet another successful event under JPM Motorsport’s belt. And the fact that it attracts drivers from Singapore, Australia and even Sri Lanka is testament to its growing appeal; ultimately raising the bar of an event that represents yet another effort by JPM Motorsports to further push the Malaysian motorsports industry in the right direction.

Since the Supercars are going there late October, when are we having a Touge session on our own again? No V8s allowed.
