Spotted: Bentley Continental GT

Published on July 26th, 2009

I went to the lobby for a breather when attending an event in one of the hotels in Kuala Lumpur when I saw this fine piece of engineering, parked in front of the lobby entrance.

It’s a Bentley Continental GT.

Needless to say, I had to make full use of the camera I was holding. I couldn’t take much but I’m sure the pictures available here are enough to make just about anyone drool with complete envy. If the owner is reading this, I’m sorry, but the opportunity was very hard to let go.

The Bentley Continental GT is a replacement model for the previous Rolls Royce-based Continental R and T and was released back in 2003. What’s under the hood is a 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged W12 engine, and the engine is capable of spitting out Bentley-branded 552 horses, with a top speed rating of 319km/h.

Reviews of the car states that the car’s power is immediate, but not as punchy as any other high-performance car. The traction control system ensures that the car propels itself forward without any uncomfortable G-force being applied. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t lurch like a rocket. It is a grand-tourer, after all.

Hmmm, this somewhat reminds me of the new California.

The size and weight of the car contribute much towards the power deliverance, with some reviews saying that driving at 250km/h is like cruising down the highway at legal speed.

For those who can afford the fuel for this type of car, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

The car seen here is sitting on 22” after-market wheels, with quad exhaust on the rear. I couldn’t get the interior shots but you can browse around Bentley’s website to see what Bentley owners are enjoying. I played around with the configurator and was told by my editor to stop dreaming and get my ass back to work.

Let’s see… St. James’ red for the exterior, 20” wheels… Ooops, there goes my editor again.

Nice wrap Syawal. That bloody 22′ will have the owner make sure to plan his route tho, as pot-ridden KL will simply eat ’em bling wheels…

There’s this guy who drives a Satria with 18-inches wheels, also what. Very green car. Hahhaa.

His way of driving? Avoid ANY holes at ALL cost.

This driver and proud owner of the menacingly unique carburetted proton satria that runs on 18″inch wheels that Syawal talks about is an excellent driver, which is why he is very sharp and alert when driving, even at high speeds, in avoiding potholes and evasively manoeuvering through and past damaging bumps and humps on the road…
I would trust the capable owner of the very green 18″inch wheeled satria with my ride anytime, on any given road, on any given day…

    by the way Syawal…
good journalistic instincts you have to do a story on a luxurious piece of enviable and exquisite motoring machinery that you just happened to chance upon/stumble across…
