Shell Helix Roadshow at Sunway Pyramid a vrooming success

The recent Shell Helix Roadshow at Sunway Pyramid was a vrooming success when it drew an estimated 30,000 visitors with an exciting interactive programme that lived up to its ‘fastest experience ever’ theme.

The shopping mall’s Blue Concourse area was transformed into a sea of yellow and red during the three-day Shell Helix Roadshow.

The highlight of the roadshow was the Time Attack Challenge sponsored by Shell Helix and Shell V-Power 97. Mohd Shahril Nindar from Ampang proved he was the fastest driver of the competition by beating 708 others to take home the Grand Prize of a 46-inch LCD television. Other prizes up for grabs were assorted Playstation 3 accessories.

The 24-year old designer, a regular on the racetrack at Sepang, said that his real-life racing experience came in handy during the competition as the Gran Turismo 5 racing simulation game was extremely realistic.

“The 46-inch TV is certainly a timely Raya present. As I use Shell Helix HX7 for my 4X4 pick-up, I will now target to go to Abu Dhabi!” said the ecstatic Shahril.

Visitors to the roadshow could not stop taking photographs with two brand new Ferraris, a California and a 458, that were on display courtesy of Naza Italia. Also on display were a Scuderia Ferrari helmet worth RM20,000, F1 driver Felipe Massa’s personally autographed driver’s suit and a myriad of accessories for fans of the Prancing Horse marque.

They also had the opportunity to take part in various fun activities such as the Shell Active Cleansing Mini Pool Challenge and Shell Helix Sludge Buster Radio-controlled Car Challenge.

During the three-day event, visitors snapped up more than 200 packs of Shell Helix motor oils that were available for sale, making the event a huge success.

Ms Seow Lee Ming, Cluster Marketing Manager, Shell Lubricants SEA-South, said that the response from the public to the Shell Helix Roadshow was overwhelming.

“The aim of the roadshow was to provide a taste of this year’s Shell Ferrari World contest theme, which promises the ‘fastest 48 hours’ you would ever experience in Abu Dhabi. This is the second consecutive year Shell Malaysia is organising the Shell Ferrari global promotion to reward loyal Shell Helix customers after the trip to Italy last year,” she said.

The two-tier Shell Helix Ferrari World contest from 15 June to 31 August, 2011 is open to customers who purchase a four-litre pack of Shell Helix Ultra fully synthetic or Shell Helix HX7 synthetic technology motor oil with special Active Cleansing Technology.

In the first tier, customers have to count the number of Shell Helix Ultra packs on the entry form and submit their entries at selected Shell stations, authorised workshops or by mail with proof of purchase.

The second tier will see 15 lucky finalists take part in the fun-filled Shell Helix Challenge at the Berjaya Times Square Theme Park on October 8, 2011. Four lucky winners will then get to embark on a trip of a lifetime to the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi in November 2011.

As guests of Shell Helix and its technical partner Ferrari, the four winners will have the opportunity to witness first-hand the Shell Helix-lubricated Ferrari F150 cars of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa in action at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, as they race around the spectacular Yas Marina Circuit – the only day-into-night race and the penultimate event in the 2011 Formula One calendar.

The lucky winners will also get the chance to take the wheel in one of the thrilling Formula One and Gran Turismo driving simulators on a VIP trip to Ferrari World.

There, they will also ride the world’s fastest rollercoaster at speeds up to 240kph, travel through the heart of a V12 engine and tour the interactive, recreated Shell trackside laboratory where they will learn about the work that Shell engineers do behind the scenes at each Formula One race with Ferrari. With its host of rides, unique delicacies and shopping experiences, Ferrari World is sure to spark the Ferrari spirit in everyone.
