As some of Neo CPS owners complained of how the engine feels sluggish more often than not… fret not as PROTON Holdings Berhad has raised their game and unveiled the Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing edition in conjunction with PROTON’s involvement in Formula One. Slightly tweaked engine to boost performance, all equipped with AP Racing braking system, Lotus-tuned chassis and R3-tuned Ohlins suspension, the PROTON Neo R3 Lotus Racing promises to be quite a contender in its class. All these tweaking by the renowned R3, the motorsport division of PROTON ensure an embodiment of the Lotus philosophy of performance with supremo handling, heart-stopping braking system, precise steering on a lightweight body  in which reflects all the elements that are fundamental in a Lotus car.

The unveiling was held at the concourse area of the latest shopping haven of Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion KL officiated by PROTON Advisor, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, and witnessed by PROTON Holdings Berhad Managing Director, Dato’ Haji Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir. For those who are into Formula One, they had the opportunity to get almost up close and personal with all the drivers of the 1Malaysia Lotus F1 team who graced the event as Jarno Trulli, Heikki Kovalainen and Malaysia’s prodigal son, Fairuz Fauzy were in town for the upcoming Malaysian GP.

The PROTON Neo Lotus Racing is powered by the 1.6 CamPro CPS engine… tweaked by the capable hands of R3 for higher power and torque using the R3′s engine management system, performance camshafts, carbon fibre air intake and titanium exhaust headers. The AP Racing 4-pot calipers and rotors provide all the braking power while aesthetics are way much better as the interior is clad in colour-coded leather while the exterior is wider and clad in the Lotus Racing Green, complete with Lotus-inspired yellow racing stripes and highlights.

The Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing is available at RM115,000 (OTR). It might be a way bit steep but considering what you get in return, I’d say it’s worth the burn in your pocket… The Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing edition will be available for test dirve and booking at the PROTON Crystal showroom at the Center of Excellence starting from 10th April 2010.
