Rush got an upgrade

Published on December 10th, 2010

The Rush has always been popular to small families with a taste for getting their feet dirty with dirt. And as usual with Toyota, constant improvements to existing line-ups are always able to provide new outlook towards any one of Toyota’s vehicle.

One of these upgrades are three new colour variants; Champagne Metallic, White and Grey Metalic.

Cosmetic upgrades are, of course, made. Tougher and more rugged looks are imposed with new grille, new front bumper and restyled foglamp housings (foglamp for 1.5S variant only). New combination lights are designed, with restyled protector plate number bumper.

Catching up with the current trend, side-mirrors are indicator-friendly, with chrome door handles and grip-type which makes them easier to use. All variants come with a custom-designed spare wheel cover on the rear side-hinged door that has a lock to secure the full-sized spare wheel. And as always, these things are not just for display. Keep your spare tyres in checked and ready to go in case of emergency.

The interior has been redecorated with bold dark grey colour theme, complete with a new gearknob. The centre console has been redesigned as well with new analogue styling. Entertainment system has been upgraded to a 2-din head unit, with MP3 and WMA compatibility. USB thumbdrive and AUX support is also available.

Split 50:50 backrest are now available for the third row of seats, which will allow partial folding to accommodate a person and extra luggage side by side. If you need more space, just fold the seats and you’re ready to go.

Toyota Standard Solar Film is now made available with UV and infra-red protection, all approved by JPJ.

In terms of handling, the Rush has received an improvement for better shock absorption, providing more comfort.

No upgrades on the engine part as the Rush is still using the same 1.5-liter 4-cylinder DOHC VVT-i engine, but the fuel efficiency has been improved by 5% through optimisation of the air-conditioning system. Noise levels have been reduced as well at high speed by adding a new insulation to the dashboard area.

The new upgraded Rush is available in three variants; Rush 1.5S Auto (RM96,990), Rush 1.5G Auto (RM91,190) and Rush 1.5G Manual (RM88,190).
