NAZA GROUP HANDS OVER 200 SUVs AND MOTORCYCLES FOR THE MALAYSIAN F1 GP 2011

The NAZA Group of Companies today presented some 145 Chevrolet Captiva SUVs and 55 Harley Davidson motorcycles to be used by the Sepang International Circuit for the upcoming 2011 Formula 1 PETRONAS Malaysia Grand Prix.

The vehicles are courtesy of NAZA Quest Sdn Bhd, the exclusive distributor for the Chevrolet brand in Malaysia, while the motorcycles were from NAZA Prestige Bikes Sdn Bhd, the sole importers of the Harley Davidson brand.

NAZA Group of Companies Joint Group Executive Chairman Datuk Wira Haji SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin presented the mock keys for the SUVs as the official course cars and motorcycles to SIC Chairman Dato’ Mokhzani Mahathir at a ceremony at the newest Chevrolet 3S Centre in Jalan Ampang.

These SUVs and motorcycles will be used as the official vehicles of by SIC, the promoter and host of the 13th edition of the 2011 Formula 1 PETRONAS Malaysia Grand Prix scheduled from 8th till 10th Aprill 2011.

“NAZA Quest and NAZA Prestige Bikes are proud to be associated with the 2011 Formula 1 PETRONAS Malaysia Grand Prix, which is one of the most premier racing event in the country,” Datuk Wira Haji SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin said.

“This partnership is an extension of the NAZA Group’s involvement in Formula 1 racing. As a Malaysian conglomerate, it is our duty and responsibility to support and promote Malaysian sporting events as it is a great opportunity for us to promote our country, our culture and our way of life to the international sporting world,” he added.

The NAZA Group’s involvement in Formula 1 began when it was appointed as the sole dealer of Ferrari in Malaysia via NAZA Italia Sdn Bhd. The company has been an avid supporter of the F1 race as a means to promote Malaysia as a sporting tourism hub.

Besides that, the NAZA Group has also been promoting two-wheel sporting events in Malaysia such as the inaugural South East Asia Harley Owners Group Rally in June 2010 and the first Asia Ducati Week in October 2010, which drew owners of these two international motorcycle brands from all over the globe to experience the wonders that Malaysia had to offer.

SIC welcomed the contribution from NAZA Group and thanked Datuk Wira SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin for his kind generosity, adding that it was timely that the country’s most active promoter of racing events worked closely together with the country’s automotive giant.
