NASIM Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of the Peugeot brand in Malaysia, which has been responsible for the turn-around in fortunes for the Peugeot brand in Malaysia, has recently launched the new and enhanced 308 Turbo, which features a new six-speed transmission and a higher maximum power output of 156hp from a force-fed 1.6-Litre inline-four engine.

The new and enhanced 308 Turbo has been fitted with a spanking new six-speed auto-adaptive transmission which promises more driving pleasure and fun, replacing the previous dated and somewhat restrictive four-speed automatic gearbox. The new six-speed auto-adaptive transmission comes with Tiptronic function and a ‘Sport Mode’ for increased performance.

The new transmission more than complements the car’s turbocharged engine and the performance that it provides for, which is 16hp more than the previous 308 Turbo’s power output, resulting in a maximum power output of 156hp for this beautiful, head-turning, four door hatchback. It is no big secret that the 308 Turbo’s force-fed engine was jointly-developed by PSA Peugeot-Citroen together BMW AG. It has a maximum torque of a whopping 240Nm of Torque from as low as 1,400 rpm, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km in 9.1 seconds.

With a new on-the-road price of RM118,888, Nasim is targeting to increase its monthly sales of the 308 range by 30% from an average of 150 units a month at present.

“With these new features, the new 308 Turbo is set to maintain its position as the market leader in its segment among continental makes,” said a confident SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, the young and popular CEO of Nasim Sdn Bhd.

As of the end of October this year, Nasim has sold a total of 1,399 units of the 308. This represents a 57% jump from Nasim’s sales of the 308 for the whole of 2009. The 308 Turbo has remained the best seller in the 308 range, comprising 70% of sales. The other variant sold is the tamer 308 VTi.

Apart from the new transmission, the new 308 Turbo also comes with new sporty black dials on the instrument panel as well as Bluetooth and USB connectivity to enhance its premium quality.

The 308 Turbo comes standard with a host of other premium features, such as a panoramic glass roof for a more romantic drive at night with a loved one to gaze at the sky and the many bright, shinning stars, cooling automatic dual-zone air-conditioning, electric folding side-mirrors, “follow-me-home” lights, daytime running lights that accentuates the car’s presence on Malaysian roads, automated headlights and automated wipers.

For improved comfort, the 308 turbo also comes with rear passenger air-conditioning vents which is most welcome especially since Malaysia is blessed with such a hot and humid climate that is unpredictable, an auto-dimming rear view mirror that filters out the irritating and annoying glare from inconsiderate drivers who drive with their car’s high beam on, or those cars with excessively bright High Intensity Discharge (HiD) lights, a six-speaker system that produces rather impressive sound quality, an air-conditioned glove box, and a handy and appreciated centre instrument panel LCD display.

For safety, the 308 Turbo is fitted with a total of not one, or two, but six airbags, Anti Brake Locking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), traction control, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), a rolling code transponder immobilizer security system, and two ISOFIX points for easy child seat installation.

The new 308 Turbo will be in Peugeot showrooms from now onwards, and is readily available for test drive at all Nasim showrooms and Peugeot authorised dealers all throughout the country. For more information and enquiries, log on to www.peugeot.com.my.
