More Spectacular Motorracing Events in 2012 by

During a Hi-Tea session with the media held at the Italiannise Restaurant, Sunway Pyramid, Commercial Director Adian Yein Khalid presented the next stage of the evolution of the Saturday Night Challenge Series (SNF) and the introduction of a brand new series.

Building on the success of the previously held inaugural six events of the 2011 season, the plans for 2012 include an upgraded profile of the night race meeting and the launch of the MegaLap series, an exciting new package that will be part of SNF’s profile with the events held at Sepang and Johor circuits.

Adian Yein Khalid said, “Launched in 2011 with the preview introduced in December of 2010, the SNF Series is the result of many years of motorsport experience built up by The recipe for 2011 was quite simple, to bring the grassroots racers together by setting up a convivial event which met the requirements and expectations of drivers, teams and spectators alike. Simplicity, technical competence, a rigorous sporting environment, excellent organisation and an attractive calendar were the priorities of the first season.”

In its inaugural season the SNF have received large support from the motorsport fraternity in general. The immense success proves that the organiser’s were right in their formula catering to the roots of true spirit of motor- racing featuring a mix of professional and amateur drivers, with numerous makes of cars competing in every round.

“For 2012, a new reference would be that the SNF being upgraded to AAM-Club level status where all drivers will be proper members of AAM-sanctioned motor racing club. The affordable SNF will be a Championship Series in 2012 which would provide closer and safer racing with more cars being able to go head-to-head with one another,” added Adian.

According to the organiser, this move will alleviate SNF to a new level which will allow more competitors to compete plus more events could be incorporated. Together with the MegaLap, each race meetings will become a cosmopolitan public relations platform, exclusive, built around a stable programme of both series.

The 2012 SNF Series will continue to take place at the Sepang International circuit’s North track. The provisional dates are as follow:

As for the new MegaLap series, there will be a Preview round which will take place at the Sepang F1 Circuit on 11 December 2011. With the introduction of MegaLap, is expanding their motorsports events offering to include a time attack challenge targeted at higher-end modified vehicles such as Honda Civic Type-Rs, Subaru Imprezas and Mitsubishi Evos, and Nissan Silvias and Lotuses. is planning to run the MegaLap series over 6-rounds which include rounds at the Pasir Gudang Circuit in Johor Bahru. To enhance the excitement, a Malaysia versus Singapore sub-trophy will be introduced to promote greater friendly competition amongst time attack enthusiasts across the causeway.
