The most successful Volkswagen model, the Golf, will be launched this Saturday, across all authorised dealerships nationwide. Since its introduction in 1974, the Golf has sold a staggering 29 million cars worldwide in its 6 generations.
The 7th generation Golf comes completely rebuilt and redesigned and is a masterpiece that imbibes the spectrum of modernity, efficiency, comfort and environmental friendliness. The car is a translation of Volkswagen’s brand values of offering cars that are responsible to the environment, valuable to cutomers and innovative in their design and engineering.
The Golf is longer, wider and lower than before and boasts all fundamentals that connect the driver and its occupants with their car. One of the most significant changes to the car is its lightweight design. The Golf has lost up to 100kg in weight as it is built with lighter, yet stiffer materials.
Equipped with Volkswagen’s TSI engine with Blue Motion Technologies, the Golf strides forth in environment friendliness through its BlueMotion Technologies that results in class leading reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. It comes packed with the latest and most innovative powertrain technology.
Volkswagen Malaysia Managing Director, Dr. Zeno Kerschbaumer said, “The introduction of the new Golf is very significant for Volkswagen as it incorporates all of Volkswagen’s brand values.
“Only a few months after its debut in Germany, the new Golf is now available in Malaysia. I invite all Malaysians to view and test drive the all new Golf. Driving the ‘European Car of the Year 2013’ will tell you everything about this car,” Dr Kerschbaumer added.
The Golf has won numerous awards including prior to its launch but the most significant award was the European Car of the Year 2013, which was awarded by a panel of 58 automotive journalists from 22 European countries, grabbing the honours with a more than 200 points margin from the second placed product.
The new Golf is priced at RM157,888. Volkswagen authorised dealers will be welcoming Malaysians to their showrooms throughout the weekend to experience the Golf.
