Lotus Racing comes home

Lotus Racing is looking forward to earn their first point in Sepang as they were only three places away from achieving this. Right after Heikki Kovailanen finished the Melbourne Grand Prix in 13th place, Lotus Racing is confident to build a strong start to the season in the third round of the 2010 Formula One World Championship in its home ground of Malaysia.


“We expect the race in Sepang this weekend to be another exciting outing for Lotus Racing. Heikki’s finish, just three places away fro earning our first point in Melbourne, gives us a good boost for the coming race in Sepang,” quoted SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin.


The Lotus Racing held their homecoming celebration at the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur as all three drivers, Jarno Trulli, Heikki Kovailanen and Fairuz Fauzy unveiled the Lotus Cosworth T127 for the first time for the viewing pleasure of fellow Malaysians. The former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Youth and Sports Minister Dato’ Ahmad Shabery Cheek were there to officiate and witnessed the occasion.


Also present at the homecoming celebration were Lotus Racing Deputy Principals; SM Nasarudin and Dato’ Kamaruddin Meranun, PROTON Holdings Berhad Group Managing Director Dato’ Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohd Tahir, as well as Sepang International Circuit Chairman Dato’ Mokhzani Mahathir.


Apart from an autography session with all three drivers, Lotus merchandise was also on sale during the momentous event. The team also launched the Malaysian Chapter of the official Lotus Racing Fan Club.


At the event, the team also announced its latest sponsor, Maxis Berhad.
