Living in the fast lane Kiki’s way

When we talked about talents in motorsports, it has always been dominated by the male instead of its fairer sex. Nevertheless, there are a number of female drivers around the world and the amount of ’em has been increasing quite dramatically. It’s also the case here in Malaysia where the number of female drivers and even riders in fact. By now we have a proud standing of females in motorsports… not just being a race queens but they themselves race in various events in Malaysia.
We had the opportunity to have a ‘lil chat with Nurul Alis or better known as Kiki among her peers at the renowned circuit of our own, Sepang International Circuit.

Kiki as she is fondly known is an Ironlady on the track. During the shoot of the final episode of Driven Season 1, she proved her worth when her male counterparts spun at one of the twisties of Sepang while she managed to keep her racing lines in tow while piloting Team Televas Racing’s DC2 Integra every time without fail. Being petite and a mother of three has never been any problems for her to perform her best at the tracks.

Kiki got involved in racing back in 1997 during her karting years and has participated in many prestigious events such as MORAC Club Kart Race, 100cc National, Indy 40 Enduro, KKS Club Race 100cc, KKS 2hr Club Enduro, Asean Kart Prix Championship, Tengku Mahkota Trophy, Pro-Kart, Yamaha 100cc Piston Port Championship and Rotax Max 125 Championship. During this period, she was a news presenter for our national channel, RTM… and having a number of experiences of being a presenter at various events such as Le Tour de Langkawi, Jelajah Malaysia etc. and knowledge of the motoring industry made her the best candidate as the flower among the bees in Driven.

With all these experiences under her belt, it’s not a surprise that she’s one of those familiar faces in circuit and grass racing having participated in Proton International 300Km Merdeka Race, Celebrity Support Race, R3 Street ShootOut, Merdeka Millenium 12hr Endurance and Grass Racing Autocross. Apart from being the pretty face of Driven, Kiki also has her hands in team management and PR apart from being one of the drivers of Team Televas Racing.

In the previous Sepang 1K, Kiki scorched the tarmac with an Integra DC2 of Team Televas Racing and posed quite a threat to other teams in its class. WIth superb pitworks and line-up of drivers, Kiki and Team Televas Racing managed to achieve 29th position overall at the end of 181 laps with the Peugeot 206 while the DC2 limped all the way towards the end due to mechanical failures.

A month back, Kiki and the rest of Team Televas Racing show their compassion for the underprivileged and organized a Charity Go-Kart event in aid of the Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-kanak Cacat Tmn Megah (PPKKCTM). One thing for sure being a speed demon doesn’t mean that you are all tough and insensitive as what Kiki proved to be full of compassion and love. Ya dig?
