KL Swifters Assemble!

Published on January 28th, 2014

Date: 30th November 2013,

8:30 AM: Gathered at rendezvous point – USJ R&R (Elite highway). Light breakfast served and distributed event decals to participants. A total of 38 cars were divided into four groups (1, 2, 3 and 4)

9:30 AM: Convoy briefing was conducted by the club’s advisor Rashdan Abdullah (Darn) which was also the Zero of the convoy. Assisted by the President of KL Swifter Ahmad Sani Rahman (Orionpax) who was the Sweeper of the convoy.

10 AM: Convoy departed in groups. Each group consists of one Marshall, one Backmarker, and three Media Car equipped with GoPro to take videos during the convoy.

The convoy started from the rendezvous point and exited the highway at Nilai, where they entered the LEKAS highway. This is to avoid the traffic from Nilai to Seremban, which could be quite bad on a Saturday. From LEKAS, the convoy re-entered PLUS highway via the Senawang Toll Plaza.

The convoy arrived at Ayer Keroh Toll at around 1PM, where the hosting team from Melaka (KLS Melaka Division) was ready to escort the convoy to regroup in Autocity, Melaka.

After the regrouping with the KLS Melaka Division, the convoy then moved on to the main location, which was the Menara Taming Sari. It took the convoy roughly one hour and fifteen minutes to arrive due to the horrible traffic congestion. At the location, two other teams from KL Swifter (KLS Kuantan Division & KLS JB Division) have been waiting to greet the convoy. They have earlier parked their cars and assisted the others upon the convoy’s arrival.

A short photo shooting session took place after everyone’s arrival from lunch, which was around 3.45PM. The next location was scheduled to be at Muara Ikan Bakar Parameswara, located in Umbai (12 kilometers from Melaka Town). Again, due to the bad traffic condition, it took the convoy an hour to reach the destination.

Once the convoy reached the location, the group was ushered to park at a designated parking area just beside the place where the dinner took place. Food was served at 6PM (early dinner). Halfway through the dinner, club founder Affendi Jamaludin started the main event by introducing the club’s committees to some of the new members. The new members were also asked to introduce themselves to the rest of the club members.

As part of the club’s tradition, during any grand events, long-time members that show good commitment and positive attitude will be awarded the Family Decal, which will be placed at the bottom right corner of the rear windscreen. However, before they are given the decal, they will have to complete several tasks. Only members who have been with the club for at least a year will be eligible for the decal. This gives the committee ample time to decide and nominate any possible candidates for the award.

Part of the cost of the event was sponsored by Rahman Brothers Automotive Sdn. Bhd. which is also one of Suzuki Sales and Service Center in Klang Valley.
