Goodyear FD Malaysia: The drifters are at it again!

Published on December 17th, 2010

It’s one of those time of the year when the roads are closed and caused an even worst congestion.  I’d say for those who wanted to make their way to this particular area, better think twice before you drive down just to get some Marukku or even shop for clothes. The LRT would be a better bet despite the fact that you might end up in one of those packed to the brim like sardines in a can or even worst end up standing beside a guy whose stinky armpits’ odor fills the whole coach… as what happened to me today.

This time around instead of the renowned international cycling event, it’s the Goodyear Formula D Malaysia held at the historic Dataran Merdeka. Apart from the previous Formula D held in Long Beach, USA and Singapore… the Malaysian round will be one of the three rounds to be held on the street! It would be an event not to be missed for those who have a soft spot for drifting. Malaysians get to witness a fierce sideways battle among the drifters from a number of countries such as Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, USA, New Zealand and our very own local boys and girl…. I’d like rephrase that, a lady.

The whole stretch in front of the Tun Abdul Samad Building has been closed to make way for the fast-becoming popular event in the world. With ESPN Star Sport as the official broadcaster, Formula D will be broadcasted to reach 500 million viewers worldwide. All thanks to Goodyear Malaysia the title sponsor of Formula D Malaysia. So for those who can’t stand the heat or the torrential rain which we’ve been blessed with since yesterday… don’t fret you’d get the chance to watch it via EPSN Star Sports but nothing beats watching it live starting tomorrow as the drifters will do their best to entertain the public while doing what they do best to fight it all out the day after (Sunday) to be crowned as the champion of Formula D Malaysia.

Be there to get up close and personal with 50 competitive drivers from across the Asia-Pacific region going sideways with impeccable precision and vehicle control. Familiar international faces such as Ryuji Miki from Japan and Daniel Woolhouse from New Zealand as well as our very own drifters, Ariff Johanis, Azrina Jane, Michael Gan and Hanizam bin Hazmah and others at the Formula D Malaysia. Be there and support the locals drifters as they compete against one another as well as the international drifters to be the best of the best in the Formula D Malaysia. See ya there!
