Ford today proudly announces June as Ford Heritage Month in Malaysia, kicking off the yearlong celebration of both the 110th anniversary of Ford Motor Company’s founding and the 150th birthday of founder Henry Ford.
To celebrate, Ford in Malaysia is running an exclusive month-long promotion called “The Works,” offering all Ranger and Everest customers a free 27-point vehicle health check and a 10 per cent discount on Motorcraft diesel engine oil, oil filters and labour costs. To enjoy these special deals, eligible customers will need to register at www.fordconsumer.com to receive a free e-voucher that must be redeemed to receive this promotion. This promotion begins 1 June and ends 30 June.
Ford selected Motorcraft for these exclusive deals as this engine oil, specially formulated by Ford, presents exceptional value-for-money for customers. Unlike lower-end lubricant brands, Motorcraft engine oils are blended in the USA and yet retail at very competitive prices. For Ford Ranger and Everest diesel engines, the 10W-30 Super Duty premium-grade oil is recommended to ensure quiet and smooth engine performance. Ford also advises customers to receive Motorcraft oil and filter changes every 5,000 kilometres in order to keep engines running at optimum condition.
To further honour Ford Heritage Month, members of Ford distribution partner Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) is decorating its large birthday cake showroom display with handwritten goals of how will “Go Further” this year to completely satisfy customers’ expectations. On 11 June, Ford National Sales Manager Veemala Rethinasamy, SDAC Managing Director Lee Eu San and Ford Dealer Operation Manager for the Asia Pacific Region Frankie Ng will review all postings and select five winners. On 13 June, the winners will be announced and each awarded a Garmin GPS personal navigation system.
Ford’s heritage in Malaysia is almost as rich as the Malaysian automotive industry itself; in fact, the first Ford vehicles were distributed in Malaysia in 1909. The company’s dealer network here boasts 43 Ford showrooms and service centres, with another seven planned in the near future.
“We take great pride in the special relationships we have with our employees, our suppliers and in our enduring relationships with our valued customers,” said David Westerman, regional manager, Asia Pacific, Ford Export & Growth Operations. “Nowhere is that sense of special family more prevalent than in Ford’s dealership family in Malaysia and today we want to recognise Ford’s place in our history and our future.”
Putting the world on wheels
One hundred and ten years ago, on June 16, 1903, Henry Ford and 11 original investors signed incorporation papers to form Ford Motor Company, starting with a dream, USD$28,000 in cash, some blueprints and tools.
Ford’s dream – to build a car “so low in price that no man making a good salary will be unable to own one” – took off with the introduction of the Model T, the car for the great multitude. The Model T was literally the automobile that put the world on wheels.
“Today Ford is the world’s second largest automaker and the Ford oval is one of the three most recognised symbols in the world,” said Westerman.
“However, in terms of the basics, not much has changed since Ford’s humble beginnings — we still design innovative vehicles at the best value, hold customer satisfaction as our number one priority and believe our people are our greatest asset as we get ready to serve customers for another 110 years,” said Westerman.
Well into its second century today, Ford Motor Company is now revolutionising the auto industry around the globe with models that continually set the benchmark in their segment, such as the best-selling truck in the world, the F-Series; one of the best-selling SUVs in the world, the Ford Escape/Kuga; and 2012’s best-selling vehicle in the world, the all-new Ford Focus.
“With an almost 88-year history together, among the best dealer networks in Malaysia and a world-class lineup of new products and service initiatives underway, we see nothing but great things to come for Ford in Malaysia,” concluded Westerman.
