The way in which someone stands with a certain posture coupled with some attitude to prove something or making a standpoint, in short, we are talking about the word stance. It happens in our everyday life. It helps governments make changes. It makes your boxing opponents think twice. It pushes the buffalo upon a duel. It helps you ready for your next move. It gives you the advantage over an argument.
Put all this onto your ride and you’ll be making heads turn, wicked looks thrown and talk of the town gazes that will make the front page of the papers. In other words, stance of a car, is actually having all that awesome feeling of motion while being stationary. Meaning looking good without moving. And hell yeah, it looks better when it glides on the road. The thing about a car’s stance is that it has to have the look. The look of the car being pressed on to the road, as if the stock lowering kit wouldn’t just cut it, the mild lowering kits were made for wussies. We are talking about tucking the tyres so deep in the fenders or tyre well that it had to be negatively cambered to kingdom come.
And to fit it all in while having of what’s left for rubber surface time, you gotta have the wheel wide enough. We are talking about 9″ here and if your car can take it, push it to 13″ wide. Some would go with the concave wheels or the deep dished wheels but many would go for the reversed metal wheels to go to the extreme. And to have it all in, you gotta have your tyres stretched all over to the brim of your wide wheels end to end. Bear in mind that these low stance rides loves to cruise in slow motion rather than getting in a gear shifty dragrace. Their reason was that they can attract all the attention without being in motion blur.
One other thing is which is also vital to have that stanced look is to lower your car as low as you can. Here in Malaysia, most of the stanced car clubs opt for that coilover with bent arms rather than having an air suspension system installed. So you must say, those with their bent arms and coilovers get more street credits that those who would play it safe and have their air suspension rides. Simply because, apart from having it as their daily ride, they have to go
through all the downside of being in the lowered car family that consisit of the limited of places you can go to, having bigger turning radius (this really sucks at u-turns) due to scrubbing and lack of wheel spaces, and of course those dreaded hellish potholes and bumps.
And just when you thought a cat can survive underneath your car if they happens to jump across on the highway, err, actually they can’t so consider yourself a family of roadkillers too. But with air suspension, avoiding any bumps and curbs is just a matter flicking a switch. Maybe that trend will be in if more of you accessory shops bring it in at a reasonable prices.
These shots here were taken at the Zerotohundred.com’s Time to Attack event weekend where the stance cars gathered to spice things up at the floor. And the crowd went wild when they were given the parade around the straights for all to drop their jaws and slurps at all the drop down cars in motion. Low stance cars trend is just picking up here and moving up aggressively given the numbers although this way of lowering the rides have been made and done to another level in most of Europe and Japan ages ago. We saw that day, things were heating up the same here for the our boys. So keep it up! I mean keep it down, very very low, lower, yeah that’s it. Oh wait! You almost killed an ant!
