Bertie McCrory and Damian Dielenberg claimed two wins each in their respective categories during the Malaysian Super Series held at Sepang International Circuit today. McCrory claimed the Open category wins in the Classic Car Club of Hong Kong race series while Dielenberg took both trophies in the Supersixteen races.
McCrory in his Lotus 7 proved to be far too powerful for second placed man, Daniel Bilski, to keep up in his Porsche 911 IROC RSR clone. It was a close battle between the duo throughout Race 1 and although McCrory started in pole, he had to push himself almost to the maximum to make sure that Bilski did not get past him.
McCrory was still perspiring after the podium ceremony but was all smiles as he said, “Overall it went pretty well and I started on pole position. Daniel Bilski was really quick and he kept pushing me throughout the race so I was happy to keep a margin but I couldn’t let off or make one mistake. Overall it was really hard work and it was really hot out there.”
Bilski agreed that it was a tough race but was happy with the two podiums he claimed on Sunday.
“It was very hot hard work. Getting second in both races, I’m happy and with a new personal best time in the first race, but the Lotus (of McCrory) was just too quick. I think everyone had fun today and we had a reasonable grid and it was good to see everybody pushing their cars to the limit and we are all pretty tired now.”
In Supersixteen, Damian Dielenberg took home two wins in the series when he finished Race 1 22 seconds ahead of second placed man and Supersixteen regular, Kok Pak Chiang. Indran Kanaji took second in Race 2 while Winston Eu, climbed on the podium twice in third.
Round 2 of the Malaysian Super Series will be held at Sepang International Circuit from 26-27 June 2010.
