It’s the starting of F1 as it opens the season in Australia last weekend. For us Malaysian, this week is all about F1 as it graces the soils of Malaysia for the Malaysian Grand Prix. Whilst the opening season was aired last weekend, the Blue Jackets’ boys and gals battle it out against one another at the mini Sepang circuit.
It’s the closest thing to F1 at a bargain without having to spend billions of the dollars or ringgit for that matter. It was all fun and joy. The Blue Jackets Go-Kart Endurance Challenge had quite a participation with 18 teams comprised of a minimum 4 person up to 5 person, all eager to challenge one another.
In the spirit of motorsport, some were serious enough to take some time and scorched the track a week before in order to familiarize and work out the synergy of their team. During D-Day, a number of ’em can be seen being there earlier for practice.
With limited supply of drinks and varieties of delicacies, it was eight hours of fun, galore and antiques as ’em boys and gals took the party to the track. The parking lots were all blown out with supercars of various makes, and to top it all up, an Aventador were there too looking all pretty in its shiny orange skin.
I’d say the competition spirit among ’em Blue Jackets’ boys and gals were intense. It was so intense that one of ’em, lost his soles while another lost a shoe during the practice laps. The endurance race started at 8.30pm and being a night race, it was more challenging and fun but even though without the scorching sun, those who were there to support found themselves sweating like a pig.
A number of teams with creativity level above par, came out with unique-looking pitboards to spice up the race even further. An hour before the race, the teams can be seen strategizing while gobbling the delicacies or simply enjoying the ABC.
The debut of Blue Jackets’ Go-Kart Endurance Challenge was overwhelming with fun-filled galore and competitiveness. The 2-hour race was intense and heated as drivers swapped go-karts, lost a tyre, lost count of laps and being dead tired leaving three teams to be victorious. Congrats to Pisang Racing, Cartrade Racing and Catkillerz. I’d say the rest of teams are all itching to get their feet on the podium while holding the customised trophies the next coming round.
