The transition of Audi in Malaysia has marked a great influence upon the arrival of new models to our shores. With the recent introduction of the Mk3 TT a couple of months ago, Audi Malaysia today has officially launched the facelifted A6 C7 into the market.
A little history – the A6 was originally known as the Audi 100, and was first launched in 1968, providing the foundation for Audi’s premium positioning as the flagship for the Audi brand at the time. Since it’s inception, the seven generations of the Audi 100, and the it’s successor (the A6) have always showcased Audi’s innovative technologies and progressive approach in what has quickly become the most competitive segment in the industry.
As updates go – the facelifted A6 C7 now comes fitted with the brand’s new Matrix LED Technology along with newly designed LED daytime running lights. The Matrix LED light makes yse of an array of 19 light-emitting diodes per headlight paired with four reflectors to produce a high-beam light that promises to illuminates the road ahead better.
The updated iteration now comes with Audi’s all new 1.8 TFSI engine to replace the previous 2.0 TFSI engine, along with a 3.0-litre TFSI Supercharged Quattro unit as the top-of-the-range model in Malaysia. Sadly, we will not be getting the Hybrid model anymore on the facelift as Audi Malaysia is not able to match it’s rivals for a competitive pricing.
For the base model 1.8-litre turbocharged engine – prices starts at RM324,900 which Audi says is highly competitive. The powerplant produces 190bhp and 320nm; which is 10bhp more than the previous 2.0-litre powerplant, matched with the same torque figures. At the same time, consumption has also significantly been improved to just 5.7 litres/100km.
On the hand – the top-of-the-range 3.0-litre TFSI is where the model stands impressive. It produces a whopping output of 333bhp and 440nm at it’s disposal, which is 23bhp up from the last iteration. The naught to sixty sprint is completed in just 5.1 seconds and will keep accelerating to a limited top speed of 250 km/h.
This is also the only one that is fitted with Audi’s Quattro AWD system. Prices for this model has yet to be confirmed, however it is set to hover below the RM500k mark. If this promise is met, it stands competitive against the E-klasse equivalent as the A6 is a fully imported, CBU model unlike the Mercedes.
The interior is business as usual. Typically Audi, with superbly crafted design and creature comforts to keep the driver and passengers entertained on the drive.
The MMI navigation plus with MMI touch system comes standard on the top of the range model. It features the latest generation modular infortainment system on an 8-inch screen along with a Bose surround sound 12-channel amplifier with 14 loudspeakers.
Additionally, the new Audi connect functionality with Google Earth and Wi-Fi Hotspot enables drivers to be stay connected and linked up on the go. The system is connected to the Internet via a SIM card to enjoy LTE high-speed data transmission standards, which is the perfect supplement to the MMI infotainment system.
The car is offered in thirteen (13) different colours for your choose. Yeap, that’s right… 13! Booking is available from August 25 onwards at the said prices. The new Audi A6 is now available for viewing on their showroom floors for your viewing. For more information, visit www.audi.com.my.
