Asian Auto tips its hat to the industry’s best

Awards are there to recognize the best in a given field but the grass might sometimes be greener on the other side, resulting in a playing field that isn’t really level.

With this in mind, Asian Auto, the country’s oldest monthly automotive magazine that has been in print for 35 years, focuses its Asian Auto-VCA Auto Awards on the real-world value of each vehicle in our local price-sensitive market.

In regards to that, the Asian Auto-VCA Auto Awards 2010 was held recently and saw 18 of the industry’s finest feted with more than 120 representatives from 33 car companies present to vie for the awards.

“This year’s judging has been an interesting experience as I am pleased to note that some formerly quiet and less popular brands had come forward with exciting products for Malaysian consumers. These brands have taken strong steps to move their ‘game’ up with better built, better quality and increased driver dynamics to take higher sales positions,” said Daniel Fernandez, Chief Editor of Asian Auto.

“This change has led us to believe that there is a need now for the previously dominant players to work more closely with their business partners in order to stay relevant in the competition. This is a positive scenario as Malaysian car consumers will then have better choices of more advanced automobiles,” he added.

For the third consecutive year, the designated UK Vehicle Type Approval authority, VCA UK, has continued its support for the awards. Pulling on over 30 years of experience, the VCA supports the industry by providing internationally recognized testing and certification for vehicles, their systems and components. Its Malaysian office in Kelana Jaya supports many key industry players in both vehicle type approval and management system certification.

Standing behind the Asian Auto awards as co-sponsors are Garmin, AmBank and L’Oreal with Saujana Subang providing the venue.
