OD Racing team, a team founded, run and funded by racing enthusiasts focusing on local talents, was officially launched today in Kuala Lumpur.
Officiated by the Minister of Tourism and Culture, YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Bin Abdul Aziz, a small media ceremony was held at Marble 8 in Jalan Binjai, to introduce the team’s line-up and car for their 2015 race programme.
YB Dato’ Seri said at the launch, “I would like to see more of such collaborations being made to attract more foreign visitors to Malaysia during the GT3 races in Sepang International Circuit.”
OD Racing will participate in the internationally renowned and FIA Sanctioned GT Asia Series for the 2015 season, with Malaysian drivers, Zen Low and Afiq Yazid. Zen is an experienced GT driver with a long list of participation and wins in various races, competing in not only cars but on two-wheels as well, including motocross. Afiq is a young driver who has come out from formula car racing to make his mark in GT races, and within one short year has proved his speed in the competitive Lamborghini Super Trofeo series.
YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri also assisted Mr Bernard Teo, MD of OD Racing in unveiling the team’s fully- kitted Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 GT3, to the members of the media.
“We proud to showcase OD Racing as the first Malaysian team in the GT Asia series and prepare to bring home the championship title” said Mr Bernard Teo.
OD Racing also introduced their technical partners, Aylezo Motorsport, a Sporting Administration and Technical Team with over 30 years of combined International race experience in some of the Region’s most renowned Series.
“We have a strong backing of experienced crew and the boys (and girls) are all geared up for 2015” said Zen Low, owner of Aylezo and driver for OD Racing.
OD Racing will be the first ‘all-Malaysian’ team entering in the GT Asia Series in 2015. The Internationally acclaimed Series began some years ago as a small club race run by Supercar Club Hong Kong (SCCHK). Then as the participation grew and interest to race outside China became apparent, SCCHK collaborated with Motorsport Asia in 2008 to bring the supercar race around Asia. The Series has grown since and is now an FIA Sanctioned Series with participation from professional and amateur drivers from around the world.
