The GT Asia Series will once again incorporate the AAMC Macau GT Cup into part of its Season. This will be the second year in which drivers participating at three race weekends will vie for a special AAMC Macau GT Cup.

The agreement was recently signed in Hong Kong between Associacao General de Automovel de Macau-China (the Automobile General Association Macao-China or AAMC) and Supercar Club Hong Kong on behalf of the GT Asia Series.

The AAMC Macau GT Cup is a special award nomination for the top three drivers and Championship points are accumulated from three race weekends beginning in Fuji for Rounds 5 & 6, in Sepang for Rounds 7 & 8 and ending in Zhuhai during Rounds 9 & 10. The AAMC Macau GT Cup Champion will be awarded by AAMC at the Macau GP Sunday Party after Round 11, the final race of the season, which is held during the Macau GP weekend.

“Our relationship with the AAMC and the Macau GP Committee began in 2003 when we assisted them to bring the first Road Sport Supercar Race to the 50th Macau Grand Prix. Then in 2008, we acted as a joint organiser with AAMC Macau to bring the first ever GT Race to their prestigious event. This year the 2013 GT Asia Series will be our second full year of welcoming the AAMC Macau GT drivers to be a part of our Series. Last year our GT Asia Series driver, Li Zhi Cong, was crowned the AAMC Macau GT Cup Champion, which was a great honour” said Paul Yao, CEO of Supercar Club Hong Kong, joint organiser of the GT Asia Series.”

The AAMC Macau GT Cup drivers will also be placed on the invited entry list for the much coveted season finale, held as part of the prestigious annual Macau Grand Prix. This year, the event will be celebrating its 60thyear anniversary in a special two weekend event, with GT Asia Series being part of the traditional weekend running alongside the World Touring Car Championship and Formula 3 at the Guia International Circuit.

The 2013 GT Asia Series is supported by Yokohama ADVAN, Graham Timekeepers, KW Automotive, AutoArt, Tunewear and RaceRoom and is jointly organised by Motorsport Asia and Supercar Club Hong Kong.
