A trip to the Boxer side

Published on January 22nd, 2011

My editor and my sub-editor accompanied me to the wedding hall I’m considering to have my wedding at. As I mentioned earlier in the ‘Cayman S: What the hell are you looking at?’ story, it’ll be a wedding made in Porsche Heaven with Ron97 Champagne for drinks and metal gaskets for snacks.

We were among the Media representatives invited to Porsche Centre Glenmarie open house recently. Let’s not discuss the severity of our drooling problem and focus on the beautiful Porsches, I mean, the service centre instead.

Arnt Bayer, CEO of Sime Darby Auto Performance Sdn Bhd

Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) is the official Porsche importer for us Malaysian, and they’ve had some interesting increase of sales last year. It can mean two things; more Porsches on the road and Malaysian people has gotten considerably wealthier.

SDAP spent a hefty amount of Ringgit Malaysia (read: close to 1Mil) to ensure a better experience for Porsche owners by refurbishing their workshop and and installing new mechanized tools for tuning and servicing Porsches.

Some of these new tools include Porsche Diagnosis Tool PIWIS tester and Hunter series of chassis tuning gadgets. These new tools will ensure more accurate adjustments, be it for road or track driving. The technicians are now given designated ranks according to their specific duties. Silver and Bronze technicians handle servicing, tuning and the almost all other work, but only Gold technicians are allowed to touch ’em Hybrid Porsches.

Mr Chris Hunter, Head of After Sales, Sime Darby Auto Performance Sdn Bhd

Who can guess what car is that behind Mr Hunter?

Porsche also hosted a warehouse sale on Jan 20, 2011, with parts for vintage (924, 964, 993) Porsches and a whole bunch of other stuff up for sale. Porsche Club Malaysia members were present to show their support.

SDAP will be having Porsche Service Clinic 2011 from Jan 21 to Feb 28 for all Porsche owners. Interested owners can book for a no obligation 101 point vehicle check, diagnostics and expert advice from the factory trained Porsche mechanics. The centre accepts any Porsches, be it from an official distributor, classic or grey imports.

"We will cross-check everything we do here with our German HQ, to make sure everything is accurate"

“Our service centre is open to all shades of grey. As long as it’s a Porsche, it’s welcomed here, and we don’t care where it came from. Porsche cars deserve the best treatment from the best technician, and we are able to cater for these needs,” said Arnt Bayer.

Head over to Porsche Centre Glenmarie at 26 & 28, Jalan Juruhebah U1/50, Temasya Industrial Park , Glenmarie, Shah Alam for a more hands-on experience or give them a call at 03-5032 9911, or you can just visit Porsche’s website for more info.

They didn’t allow us to take one or two Porsche’s home, though, and it saddened our souls. Thanks for the invite guys, we’ll be back to arrange the wedding.
