A jolly June for Honda

Published on July 6th, 2010

The sales train for Honda Malaysia is on a steady roll up north as they have notched their highest monthly sales ever at 4,250 units for the month of June, levelling total sales for the year at 22,142 units and only 45 per cent away from the annual target of 40,000 units.

“Sales figures are not merely a number, but also a reading to gauge our market acceptance. And we are pleased to know that Honda has become a well accepted brand for its credibility and reliability,” said Toru Takahashi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia.

Leading the charge up the sales chart is the third generation Honda City that has been as well received as its predecessors. The City accounts for a solid 37 per cent of the monthly sales, or 1,563 units. Since its launch back in December 2008, close to 30,000 units of the mid-sized sedan have found new homes.

A new contributing factor to the sales figures is the Honda Freed. Since its launch in April this year, the Freed has sold 361 units with just under half of that being accomplished in June.

The rest of the Honda line-up are pulling their weight too with the facelifted CR-V having sold 629 units, the Accord 857 units and the Civic 870 units. Honda are decidedly upbeat about the second half of the year and are set to introduce more exciting products, including a new variant of the Civic.
