2012 Hyundai Veloster looking awesome

Published on January 23rd, 2011

This looks nice. Hyundai has just introduced a new three-door coupe during the North American International Auto Show; 2012 Veloster. The most unique about this coupe would be the third door, which is located on the passenger side for easier access.

There’s no door on the driver side for rear passengers, which means rear passenger will have easier access coming in from the passenger side. Just take a look at this picture and hopefully it’ll clear things out. As you can see, the rear passenger door handle is hidden.

Hyundai’s Blue Link telematics system will be made available with this car with features like Voice Text Messaging, Panic Notifications, Remote Vehicle Start, Location Sharing, and a whole lot of other interesting features, including GPS Turn by Turn navigation system.

Hyundai claimed a boastful up to 40 miles per gallon on the highway, which they say is better than the Honda CR-Z Hybrid, on the 1.6-liter direct-injected 4-cylinder Gamma engine coupled with Hyundai’s first dual-clutch tranny.

The engine features a Gasoline Direct Injection system, which helps to produce 138hp at 6,300rpm and 167Nm of torque at 4,850rpm. Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing is also part of the new Gamma engine with electronic throttle control, a roller timing chain, variable induction and and innovative anti-friction coatings such as CrN Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating and Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coating.

Other features include a 7-inch touchscreen display, Pandora Internet radio, Virtual CD downloading, AVI & MPEG playback via USB and video game console connectivity. Go to the bottom of this article for a full listing of features.

Hyundai said that the Veloster’s design was inspired by a high-performance sport bike (which one, we don’t know). LED position lights, Hyundai’s signature hexagonal front grille, hood scoop detailing, black highlights, all complement the Volester’s Fluidic Sculpture character lines.

The Veloster comes standard with 17-inch alloys but Hyundai will be offering two types of 18-inch wheels as an option.

Safety features are abundant with the Veloster. Features like Vehicle Stability Management, Electronic Stability Control, Motor-Driven electric Power Steering, six airbags, state-of-the-art braking package (disc bracks on all four), ABS and Brake Assist system.
